RNEO 2024: Showcasing English Excellence Among Indonesia’s Youth

Sragen, November 9, 2024 – SMA Unggulan Rushd once again demonstrated its commitment to nurturing young talent by hosting the Rushd National English Olympiad (RNEO 2024), a prestigious offline competition that drew more than 230 participants from across Indonesia. Held on November 9, 2024, RNEO set a new benchmark for English proficiency challenges, providing a platform for both junior high and senior high school students to showcase their linguistic prowess.

RNEO 2024 featured two distinct levels of competition:

Amber Level: Designed for students in grades 7 and 8, this level tested foundational English skills with a focus on grammar, vocabulary, and comprehension.

Emerald Level: Catering to grade 9 students and senior high school sophomores, this category delved deeper into advanced English knowledge, including critical analysis and higher-order language skills.

The carefully crafted levels ensured participants competed in a fair and stimulating environment suited to their abilities.

Unlike its sister competition, the Rushd English Competition (REC), which blends creativity through storytelling, speech, and video content creation, RNEO 2024 placed an intensive focus on the core elements of English language mastery. Participants tackled intricate language challenges that tested their understanding of syntax, semantics, and linguistic nuances, setting RNEO apart as a rigorous academic event.

“We designed RNEO to push the boundaries of English knowledge. It’s not just about creativity but about digging deeper into the mechanics of the language,” said by Ms Kurnia as the organizing committee.

The event attracted students from various regions, representing a diverse mix of schools. From bustling urban centers to smaller towns, the participants demonstrated Indonesia's vibrant educational landscape.
