A Dive into Journalism & Writing with an Industry Expert

On March 5, 2024, SMA Unggulan Rushd hosted the Rushd Inspiring Seminar titled "A Dive into Journalism & Writing with an Industry Expert" in its vibrant Communal Area. The seminar featured an extraordinary guest speaker, Mr. Peter Gelling, Senior News Editor at Business Insider and a seasoned journalist with a career spanning Quartz and The New York Times. The event was attended not only by Rushd students but also by enthusiastic students from other schools eager to gain insights into the world of journalism.

Mr. Gelling captivated the audience by sharing his remarkable experiences as a journalist. He delved into his career journey, highlighting lessons learned from reporting for some of the world’s leading media outlets. To everyone’s surprise, he also shared an untold story from his career—an anecdote that resonated deeply with the young aspiring writers and journalists in attendance.

The Q&A session became a highlight of the seminar. Students impressed Mr. Gelling with their critical and detailed questions, prompting him to remark that he had never encountered such a thought-provoking and insightful audience at their age.
